Lessons in Layering From New York Fashion Week

Is anyone else losing their fashion mojo in this chilly weather? It can be tricky to plan an outfit when you've got to fit two layers of Uniqlo heattech and an extra jumper under your winter coat, so let the New York Fall 2012 collections offer up some fresh ideas. From skirts worn over silk dresses to skirts worn over other skirts, let the latest collections inspire your current wardrobe.

TSE's Autumn/Winter 2012 collection was all about the chunky cardigan worn over a fine knit. And why stop at one skirt when you can layer a knee-length number over a stretch midi?

Over at 10 Crosby Derek Lam it was a two-coats-is-better-than-one situation, as a fur chubby was worn over an aqua wool coat. Also note the leather skirt layered of the printed dress and the cotton shirt placed under the wool mini. I like this collection. I like it a lot...

At Cynthia Rowley there was some entry-level layering (print shirt + sweater + jacket + gloves), but I was more impressed by the leather t-shirts worn over long-sleeved tops. Especially when the combination was in a lovely shade of pumpkin.

There was an unidentifiable amount of layers going on at M.Patmos yesterday. Is that a polo neck poncho/cape worn over a fine knit t-shirt over a merino wool top paired with a knitted origami-style skirt? Who cares, right? It sure looks warm..

Kate Moss Covers W Magazine's March 2012 Issue

Well isn't this is unexpected and exciting? Kate Moss covers the March 2012 issue of W magazine, posing for two covers - Dark Moss and Light Moss - which were both photographed by the wonderful Steven Klein. "Good Kate" wears a white Vera Wang dress and Erdem habit on the cover, whilst "Bad Kate" models a black look from Gucci. Both are absolutely amazing.

Stylist Edward Enninful is doing such a brilliant job at W magazine, I can't wait to see what he puts together next. You can see more from Kate's W cover shoot HERE.

Which W March 2012 cover is your favourite? At the moment I prefer "Bad Kate" but I might buy both editions as they're sure to become collectors items.

What To Wear At London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week kicks off in exactly a week and this morning I woke up to a blanket of snow outside my window. This is not a promising start. And coupled with the fact I don't have a single outfit planned I'm now beginning to panic. What S/S '12 trends can I work in the cold? And more importantly, what shoes will I wear? Snow boots at LFW? I don't think so....

To organise myself I've put together a few ideas. Obviously my Michael Kors watch and new House of Harlow 1960 "Chelsea" sunglasses will be coming with me, and I plan to stock up on Uniqlo knits and printed skirts (sadly the Mary Katrantzou above isn't in budget) this weekend. Ugg Australia's "Josie" boots would solve the problem of cold toes and I adore the Blancs Manteaux camel duffle coat. And you can't get through fashion week without a colourful Topshop shift dress and a jazzy clutch to carry your invites - I like Jas MB's print pouch.

I'm now 10% less panicked, at least... How are you staying stylish in this cold weather?

Seriously, how hot is this Christian Louboutin handbag? It's called "Carrie" so I'm guessing it's named after the one and only Miss Bradshaw. I love the hot pink trim against the leopard print and the the "CL" crest is super-cute too. I wonder which celebrity we'll spot carrying it first. Sarah Jessica Parker and Blake Lively would be my top two guesses...

The Z Spoke by Zac Posen Fall 2012 Collection is Full of Killer Little Black Dresses

New York Fashion Week has officially kicked off, and one of the first collections to show was Zac Posen's lower priced line, Z Spoke. The Autumn/Winter 2012 collection is filled with figure-flattering mini dresses in a dark colour palette that sticks mostly to black, grey and burgundy. Granted, there's nothing here that's going to change the face of fashion, but it's all very wearable and these are clothes that will certainly make women look and feel great.

Crystal Renn and a pretty blonde I can't identify (I'm really bad at recognising models - if you know her name let me know) modelled the collection. There's some pretty intense posing...

Style.com's Brittany Adams is already comparing the velvet mini [third row, right] to Cher Horowitz's wardrobe in Clueless. I can totally see why, and for that reason I predict it will be an instant sell-out! What are your thoughts on the Z Spoke A/W 2012 collection?

To celebrate her relationship with G-Star RAW here is an exclusive interview with Clémence. In the video below she talks corsets, film costumes, Mick Jagger and, of course, how her partnership with G-Star came about.

On her relationship with G-Star RAW:“G-Star called about six months ago and asked me if I wanted to be part of this campaign. I’d always been quite impressed by their ads. I think they’ve got something quite different.”

On her approach to dressing:“I know that I like things that remind me of something; whether it’s a book, or a painting, or a singer, or a time of history, or a sentence in a poem. I like to find a little bit of poetry in how you put things together and tell a little story.”

The DoubleTree London Westminster Hotel, Perfect for Shopping in Mayfair

Back in September last year (when we were all busy discussing Christopher Kane's "frumpy" sandals and debating whether the Dior S/S collection would be any good) it was announced that 8 Mint Hotels had joined Hilton. They're now in the process of re-branding the properties under the DoubleTree and Garden Inn group of hotels, and as a result the London Westminster DoubleTree hotel has had a bit of a revamp, much like the US edition of Harper's Bazaar...

Situated right in the middle of London's most iconic landmarks - Big Ben, The London Eye, Westminster Abbey, etc etc - it has all the tourist attractions and necessary amenities but is most importantly just one stop away from Green Park on the underground.

That means you could be window shopping on Bond Street in less than five minutes. Who doesn't like the sound of that? Anyone who says no is officially crazy!

Automat American Brasserie, 33 Dover Street: I recently discovered Automat on Dover Street and am now completely in love with it's cool New York vibe. They do great waffles too...

Boucheron, New Bond Street: The iconic jewellery house's London store has just had a makeover, and is the perfect place to splash out on diamonds - if your bank balance allows...

Dover Street Market, 7-18 Dover Street: For a great selection of brands and shop staff that are so stylish you come away with fresh outfit inspiration.

Bond & Brook, Fenwick New Bond Street: A gorgeous setting for afternoon tea. Plus it's usually fairly quiet on a weekday so is a great place to catch up with friends.

Mulberry, New Bond Street: It's impossible not to go in. The windows are so inviting.

Coach, New Bond Street: Coach's flagship UK store is seriously beautiful and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I always enjoy visiting.

Eva Mendes Covers Marie Claire US, Looks Retouched

Eva Mendes may be one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood - she's got the "sexy hair/glowing skin/bombshell body" and dates "the hottest guy in Hollywood" - but that hasn't stopped Marie Claire US from heavily photoshopping her image. Seriously, how unnaturally stretched does Eva's face look on Marie Claire's March 2012 cover? It's freaky!

Unless she's posing with her hand behind her head so she can pull her hair into a Croydon Facelift this is the work of photoshop. It's a real shame because this is such a beautiful cover (I love the Dolce & Gabbana corset), but less is sometimes more and I would have preferred it if Eva actually looked like Eva. Do you agree?

You know we live in a creepy age where absolutely everything is public knowledge when I'm writing an actual blog post (oh yes, it is a slow news day people!) about Jamie Bell buying Prada shoes for Evan Rachel Wood. Does this really qualify as news? Probably not, but Evan Rachel Wood just tweeted about her "rad" Prada shoes and now I have a crush on Jamie Bell.

I like to imagine Jamie bought her the Spring/Summer 2012 heels, below. Evan was clearly so overexcited - as she left the "i" out of "waiting" - which makes me think I could be correct. That, and the fact that the lipstick and flame heels are indeed "f-ing awesome"!

Victoria has previously said this is the reason for the cat print dresses in her debut diffusion line, as she isn't allowed a pet cat at home. Every wardrobe needs some kitty-inspiration this season, whether you choose one of VB's dresses or Elizabeth and James' cat-eye sunglasses. Imaginary Shopping at Boucheron New Bond Street

Say someone handed you £25,000 and asked you to go shopping (this is unlikely, yes, but bear with me); what would you buy? I'm sure that a white and pink gold elephant-shaped cocktail ring adorned with diamonds, rubies and sapphires wouldn't be at the top of many lists, but you would be left with enough change for a pair of Louboutins. What a deal, right?

The ring in question is of course from Boucheron's dazzling Cabinet de Curiosités collection, which I was lucky enough to see in person, last week, at Boucheron's New Bond Street reopening. The London flagship has had a revamp for the new year, with a much brighter feel.

I've searched online and can't find them anywhere, but have managed to track down the next best thing: Kurt Geiger London's "Class" peep-toe heels in mint green.

Check out the spikes on these beauties!

The "Class" heels also come in pale blue and white but the green style is easily my favourite. Imagine how great they'll look with a tan... What would you pair these Kurt Geigers with?

Which is Your Favourite Alexa Chung ELLE UK Cover?

I know, I know, this post is so late and by now pretty much everyone on the planet has seen Alexa Chung's ELLE UK March 2012 cover. But as ELLE's one of my favourite magazines I couldn't really ignore their second largest issue of the year, could I? Alexa was photographed by Thomas Schenk and models looks from the Louis Vuitton S/S 2012 collection with some seriously gorge Dolce & Gabbana heels on both the newsstand and subscribers editions.

I very rarely prefer the newsstand cover to the subscribers edition when it comes to ELLE UK, but this month the sugary baby-blue background wins out against the muggy grey.

Also, has anyone else noticed both ELLE UK and British Vogue used the cover line "Oh So Pretty" this month. I have no idea what this means, other than March is oh so pretty...

Fashion Dilemma: Would You Wear Flatforms?

Flatforms - or "flatworms" as my iPhone keeps calling them - are everywhere this season. Although they were much more prominent on the spring runways last year it's taken a good 12 months for them to make a big impression on the high street. Currently you can find them everywhere, from Topshop through to ASOS (so next summer we can probably expect an influx of mules - the questionable shoe shape of S/S 2012).

Anyway, earlier in the week I was all for flatforms and was thinking about buying a floral pair from ASOS. My love for them lasted around half an hour, until I had a dramatic change of opinion and decide I hated them.

Interestingly when I tweeted about flatforms the response was completely split; some of you love them while others are completely against the chunky shoe.

So I think was should put it to a vote. Flatforms: are they hot or not? Vote now.

Blake Lively Wears Spring's Sportiest Collections For ELLE US

There's a lot of excitement surrounding Blake Lively's March 2012 cover for US ELLE. There are three key reasons why: first of all it's a gorgeous cover, secondly it features golden girl Blake Lively, and thirdly she wears a Victoria Beckham dress on the cover. It would be shocking if the blogosphere didn't go gaga over Tom Munro and Joe Zee's cover shoot.

I'm a big fan of Blake Lively, so was also very happy to see her on the cover. In the accompanying editorial Blake wears a selection of the new season's best sport luxe looks. In fact, almost all were in my sportswear top ten. It's nice to see another side to Blake, no?

You can read snippets from Blake's feature HERE, although so far it doesn't sound like the most thrilling of celebrity interviews. And she's still insisting she doesn't have a stylist, although I've heard from multiple industry sources that she gets a lot of help from fashion insiders - obviously, anyone who's ever done call-ins before knows Blake would never have the time to case up DHL for her missing samples.

Beauty Must-Have: Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer

A few years ago dark circles suddenly appeared under my eyes from nowhere. At first I thought they'd go away once I got more sleep/drank more water/ate more vegetables, but they stuck around. And I'm not happy about it.

I've tried a lot of products over the years - mostly expensive, usually with grand promises and almost always completely ineffective. I've had the most luck with YSL and Laura Mercier's concealers, which I really rate, but they're better on blemishes than dark circles.

Just as I was about to give up completely and hide under my House of Harlow sunglasses I discovered Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer. I've mentioned before how I adore Soap & Glory's hand cream (it's the best in the world) but hadn't tried any of their cosmetics. A silly mistake really, as their make up products all score very impressive reviews on Boots.com - almost all have five star ratings.

So I tried the Kick Ass Concealer, which sells for £10. Obviously it hasn't given me airbrush-perfect results, but it's easily the best concealer I've ever used on my dark circles. If you suffer from the same problem I would definitely recommend giving Soap & Glory a go.

Lana Del Rey Covers British Vogue March 2012

I spent the morning running around town in the freezing cold on press appointments, and when I checked Twitter at about 11am everyone was going crazy about UK Vogue's March cover. If you haven't heard already (although I'm sure most of you have) it features Lana Del Rey.

Lana was snapped for the magazine by Mario Testino and models a look from the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 collection. The sugary LV dresses are quickly catching up with Prada as the most photographed spring pieces.

The cover has a cutesy "oh so pretty" theme and I'm sure it will be a strong seller for Vogue. After all, Lana's debut album is number one in eleven countries, so she has a pretty massive fan base. Do you like Lana's Vogue cover?

It's true, they really do. Both leading-ladies recently wore a look from the Louis Vuitton Pre Fall 2012 collection. Cate got in their first, wearing the ruffled skirt and sequin knit combo in white, grey and gold to the Roma Etoile Maison Opening on Friday evening. Then Reese went for the same look, in a darker green and navy colour palette, for the UK premiere of This Means War.

Reese may have been a day behind Cate, but on this occasion I think she wears the look better. The shorter hemline, belted waist and better choice of shoes give her the lead, in my opinion. Do you agree?

Harper's Bazaar US Gets A Redesign, Gwyneth Paltrow Poses For The Cover

Harper's Bazaar US has had a redesign for the first time in 10 years, and covering the new look issue for March 2012 is Gwyneth Paltrow. Harper's US was my absolute favourite magazine a few years ago, but I haven't picked up a copy in well over a year. It's fair to say the glossy lost some of its magic over recent months. So what do I make of the redesign?

First of all I don't think Gwyneth is a terribly exciting or imaginative choice of cover star. Just like Jennifer Aniston she seems to constantly be on the cover of magazines, so she no longer inspires me to buy. That said, she's sure to have mass-appeal, so I understand why Harper's have chosen her.

The actual cover itself I really appealing though. Especially the subscribers edition, which is bold, fresh and screams high fashion. Gwyneth was photographed by Terry Richardson and the covers were designed by Robin Derrick, who was previously British Vogue's creative director. I seriously love the subscribers cover, it's so, so good!

"Fabulous At Every Age" is apparently still going strong, but thankfully it's no longer appearing as a cover line. And interestingly editor in chief, Glenda Bailey, told WWD, "We’ve started to redesign online and we will see that continue."

It looks like we can expect lots of exciting changes at Harper's Bazaar US over the coming months. Are you excited about their redesign? Do you rate the new look cover? And will you be buying the March issue?

Clothes I Want To Wear: Chloé Pre Fall 2012

I haven't felt terribly over excited about Chloé for a couple of seasons now, but I'm definitely into the Pre Fall 2012 collection. It's Clare Waight Keller's second season at the fashion house and so far I'm liking her Chloé style. It's those grown-up midi dresses worn with patent ankle and knee-high boots, the checked pants in loose and skinny fits, the full sleeves on bright knees and the cool cocoon shapes of the coats. It's all so wearable and super lust-worthy.

I can't wait to see the Chloé Autumn/Winter 2012 collection now. I'm expecting great things from Clare Waight Keller...

I've actually really missed seeing Keira Knightley on the red carpet, as she's kept a low profile over the past year or two. But now that she's back - promoting her latest movie A Dangerous Method - she's happy to show us all what we've been missing. Last night she attended the film's London screening, wearing a sophisticated custom-designed Burberry gown.

This look can only be described as divine. It's one of my all time favourite Keira fashion moments!

As I mentioned a few months ago, Burberry have been carefully working on their red carpet presence recently and this dress shows they're going in right direction. Personally I prefer it to anything we saw at the SAG awards over the weekend - it's striking, sophisticated and glamourous. Are you also a fan of Keira Knightley's Burberry dress?

Tracking Down House of Harlow's Chelsea Sunglasses

It's been ages since I've properly fallen for a fashion item that I absolutely had to have. So when I realised I really really wanted the House of Harlow 1960 Chelsea sunglasses in black a little problem like "sold out worldwide" wasn't going to stop me. For as long as I can remember I've been stubbornly determined, so if I want something I won't stop until I find a way to get it.

I Googled my butt off trying to find the Chelsea shades in black, but they were sold out on every single website. House of Harlow's UK press rep then revealed My-Wardrobe would be getting some fresh stock in February, and just as I was about to give up and actually wait patiently (the horror!) I received an email from Amazon's press team. Apparently my one-top-shop for The Hills and Laguna Beach boxsets is branching out into fashion retail. And you guessed it, they stock House of Harlow 1960! Click HERE for the Chelsea shades.

At the time of writing there were only five pairs left in stock, so order them fast if you've been hunting for them too. Rooney Mara Loves a Givenchy Peplum Waist

Rooney Mara has had a pretty amazing start to the year: there's the Oscar nomination, her Vanity Fair cover and yesterday it was announced she's replaced Blake Lively in Steven Soderbergh’s latest project. Oh, and let's not forget her unlimited access to the Givenchy Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Rooney has been wearing a lot of Givenchy recently.

Yesterday Rooney wore a white chiffon Givenchy dress with a peplum waist to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo's Japan premiere. And for today's Tokyo press conference Rooney chose an ivory Givenchy jacket - again championing the peplum shape.

The collection does suit Rooney's look perfectly, so it's no surprise she keeps returning to Givenchy. I wonder if Riccardo Tisci is working on a special design for her to wear to the Oscars... Are you a fan of Rooney's recent red carpet appearances?

Vanity Fair's March 2012 cover is out and it's extra special this month as it's the annual Hollywood Issue. This year the cover features eleven up-and-coming actresses, who were all exclusively photographed for the magazine by Mario Testino.

From left to right we have: Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Elizabeth Olsen, Adepero Oduye, Shailene Woodley, Paula Patton, Felicity Jones, Lily Collins, and Brit Marling.

I'm so pleased to see Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain and Elizabeth Olsen on the cover. And even though I'm not completely won over by the pastel coloured theme I do think this is a gorgeous cover. I can't wait to buy the issue. Are you equally as excited about the 2012 Hollywood Issue?

It all started with the Tibi collage print tank top, which I spotted over the weekend and instantly fell in love with. Then I got distracted by Topshop's kaleidoscope pencil skirt - which I want to buy for the spring, to wear with brightly coloured knits - and then my attention swerved across to Mulberry's gem embellished pumps (FYI Mulberry shoes are super comfortable).

The message? Clearly that I need to focus on getting some more printed pieces into my wardrobe, ready for the new season. Are any of the above items on your wishlist?

Alexi Lubomirski photographed the 20-year-old daughter of Jerry Hall and Mick Jagger in Miami, and to keep it personal Jerry actually conducted the interview. How awkward must that be - your own mother interviewing you for Harper's Bazaar. I can't wait to see what she asked Georgia.

The SAG Awards 2012: The Women in White

The SAG awards took place last night and although I wasn't overly inspired by the red carpet dresses I did like the shimmering white colour trend that was particularly prominent. Zoe Saldana wore a Givenchy Haute Couture piece straight from Paris, which I loved. The button detailing around the hemline is simply beautiful. It was an elegant and sophisticated choice.

Bridesmaids actress Rose Byrne went for a much more rebellious option, rocking a heavily embroidered Elie Saab jumpsuit from the Haute Couture archive. I'm sure this look won't be to everyone's taste, as jumpsuits tend to split opinion, but I think Rose pulled off this risky piece magnificently. Tilda Swinton and Julianna Margulies also looked stunning in light and luminous gowns. And in contrast, Emma Stone's black McQueen was another personal favourite.

A Denim Dilemma Solved By Donna Ida

A few weeks ago I was having coffee with denim superwoman Donna Ida and her lovely press team when I mentioned the dreaded issue of baggy denim knees. Lovers of skinny fits will know exactly what I'm talking about here: if the jeans aren't as tight on the lower-leg as they are around the thighs you get all that horrible gathering over the knees.

Donna's solution? Email my denim dilemma over to the Donna Ida Denim Clinic. So the following week I emailed their in-house stylist, Jo, explaining how I'd really like to find some coloured/printed skinny jeans that remain tight over the knees and lower-leg. Within 12 hours Jo had sent me a detailed email, listing seven different styles that could work for me.

Now I'd say I'm usually a pretty savvy shopper, but having Jo on hand to tell me how stretchy one style was compared to the other and which brands come up large was really helpful, as denim can be so confusing. In the end I opted for Hudson's 'Nico' jeans in lavender, and taking Jo's advice chose a smaller size than usual. And I'm pleased to report they fit perfectly!

Elizabeth Olsen covers the latest issue of ASOS Magazine, modelling an MiH jacket and an Elizabeth and James blouse. The 22-year-old actress and burgeoning style icon is currently promoting her latest projects, Martha Marcy May Marlene and Silent House.

The ASOS team and photographer Todd Cole shot the youngest Olsen sister at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in New York, where she posed in a selection of Spring/Summer trends. Elizabeth spoke exclusively to the magazine, talking about what it was like growing up in a famous family and why Martha Marcy May Marlene was the best acting experience she's had to date.

Has Jennifer Lopez Just Shot a US Vogue Cover?

On Friday Jennifer Lopez was spotted posing for a photo shoot in Miami [left]. At first it wasn't clear who the shoot was for, but yesterday Jen tweeted: "Lovely Saturday morning!! Hope everybody’s feeling good!! Headed to photo shoot for Vogue!! #highfashiontweet"

Fashion mission solved. Well, at least partially. There was no glimpse of Mario Testino on set (he shoots the majority of Vogue's covers) and there's also no word from Jen on whether or not she was shooting a cover story. But let's be realistic here - would J.Lo really accept anything other than the cover? I don't think so.

My guess is Vogue have shot Jennifer for May or June. She would be great for the annual "shape issue" in April, but I'm hoping that cover will go to Jennifer Lawrence, in time for The Hunger Games' March release. Ms Lopez's latest movie, What To Expect When You're Expecting, comes out at the beginning of May, so an early summer cover would be perfectly timed.

I'm sure many of you are big fans of Viktor & Rolf's iconic women's fragrance, Flowerbomb. Seven years after its release it still makes it into the bestselling fragrance charts, becoming a modern classic.

Now Viktor & Rolf have launched a menswear fragrance to keep Flowerbomb company. The debut men's scent, Spicebomb, is a powerful mixture of chilli, saffron, leather, tobacco, bergamot and grapefruit. That possibly sounds like a disgusting mixture, but I promise it's actually gorgeous. I usually prefer men's fragrances to women's, as they're less sugary, and I've started wearing Spicebomb myself.

On Wednesday night I somehow ended up in a deserted London car park with a selection of other Handpicked Media bloggers, where Viktor & Rolf staged a surprise explosion to celebrate the launch of Spicebomb. When the countdown hit zero a "spicebomb" went off, releasing confetti and the fragrance into the air. It was without a doubt the most original launch I've ever attended. If I manage to get video footage of the explosion (and the surprised screams) I'll share it.

Yesterday I spent the evening at My-Wardrobe HQ, where buying director Luisa De Paula introduced a select group of bloggers to the Spring/Summer 2012 trends they've bought into. One of the key accessory looks Luisa is really excited about this season is the return of the shopper bag. They tie in perfectly with the sportswear influences that are going to be huge for spring and their clean lines and bold colours are refreshing and fun.

On the high street Dorothy Perkins has a surprisingly good selection at the moment, and once Zara's end-of-season-sale stock clears there should be plenty of chic shoppers on offer. If you're looking for a hard-wearing investment buy though I'm all for the Michael Michael Kors jet set tote [below], which comes in both tan and black. It's such a classic design.

Yesterday the Haute Couture collections came to a delightful end with the Valentino Spring/Summer 2012 show [left]. It's always hard to pick a favourite couture show, and this season I'm really struggling to chose between Giambattista Valli and Elie Saab. Both collections were so light and romantic - perfect for spring. I hope we see them on the red carpet soon. The Oscars would be the perfect occasion.

It's a well known fact that I love what Riccardo Tisci is doing at Givenchy. He's one of my favourite designers and I was devastated when it looked like he'd be moving over to Dior. Luckily he appears to be staying put, but unfortunately I wasn't overly excited about the Spring/Summer 2012 Haute Couture collection. Obviously you can't fault Riccardo's skill - the detail and craftsmanship in this ten piece collection is extraordinary - but this season Givenchy was so dark and heavy. It could easily be an Autumn/Winter collection.

Hopefully the collection will grow on me once we see it in editorials and on the red carpet. But on another note, do you think any of the models dared to play basketball in their couture?

This morning I woke up to the best surprise possible: issue one of Capitol Couture, the Tumblr blog that is leading up to the March release of The Hunger Games movie. I'm a massive fan of the books (I read them all last year, one after the other until my eyes hurt) and cannot wait for the film. But until this morning I thought The Hunger Games was one of the few things on my non-fashion-related "likes list" - alongside ER and property TV shows. Turns out I was wrong.

It looks like the fashion-loving residents of the Capitol are going to be dressed in some top labels. Check out Effie Trinket's Alexander McQueen "Faithful" booties. They're pretty much the main focus of Capitol Couture's first issue. You can buy the "Faithful" boots HERE.

Chanel Couture Spring 2012 Red Carpet Predictions

The Chanel Haute Couture S/S 2012 collection, which showed this morning in Paris, had an airline theme. Models walked down an aeroplane aisle and the venue was built to resemble the inside of a private jet. It was yet another playful and imaginative idea from Karl Lagerfeld, and I don't suppose it will be long before the couture looks are travelling first class to LAX for real. This collection was filled with dresses that will make A-listers go weak at the knees.

Looking through the collection I saw plenty of gowns suitable for Karl's favourite girls (Diane, Keira, Blake, Alexa et al), as well as the likes of Evan Rachel Wood and Rachel McAdams. Here are a few of my red carpet predictions, see if you agree with my pairings:

Cameron Diaz's New Look: Love it or Hate it?

As mentioned yesterday Cameron Diaz is currently in Paris for the Spring/Summer 2012 Haute Couture shows. Yesterday she was front row at both Atelier Versace and Christian Dior, and according to Twitter she was also spotted at Chanel this morning - although I've yet to see pictures. Anyway, Cameron is one of my favourite Hollywood ladies and it's always a treat to see her on the red carpet, but recently her fashion mojo seems to have taken a hit.

Cameron recently had her hair cut into a short bob and I'm really not keen on the style. At yesterday's Versace show she looked great in an all-black outfit but the hair was letting the look down. Granted, it wasn't as bad as her recent appearance at the Golden Globes after party, but Cameron can do so much better. What do you make of Cameron's new look?

KARL by Karl Lagerfeld Hits Net-A-Porter

As you all know, Karl Lagerfeld has created a special one-off collection for Net-A-Porter, which launches on Wednesday. Yesterday I headed over to Net-A-Porter's London offices for the press preview, and I loved what I saw. With just over 70 pieces the KARL line offers everything you need to channel Lagerfeld's iconic style. The colour palette is mostly black and white - obviously - with just a hint of silver and maroon (there is also one lonely pale pink item in the collection) and the collection features everything from shoes through to jackets.

Prices start at £20 for a canvas bag and for T-shirts and small accessories prices mainly stay below the £100 mark. Here's a closer look at some of my favourite KARL pieces:

Atelier Versace Spring 2012: Spot The Oscar Dress

Versace is always a winner over awards season and we're certain to see at least one Atelier Versace gown at the Oscars. But which dresses will make the cut? The Spring/Summer 2012 Haute Couture collections show in Paris this week, and kicking off the festivities this morning was Atelier Versace. The Italian label's couture collection was shown on a runway, rather than in a private presentation, this season, and there were some truly magnificent designs.

The strapless silver number [below] is my top choice for the red carpet, as the metal corset detailing makes the waist look tiny and the sheer fabric over the legs adds an extra pinch of sex appeal. I was also really keen on the yellow corset [above], which would stand out beautifully on the red carpet if re-worked into a dress. Yellow is the 'It' colour right now...

In true Versace style there were also plenty of dresses perfect for Jennifer Lopez. I think the shimmering green number has J.Lo written all over it, don't you? However, Diane Kruger, Cameron Diaz and Abbie Cornish all watched the show this morning, so they're likely to get the first pick from the collection. I wonder what they'll all choose...

Four Of The Best Peplum-Waist Spring/Summer Buys

Sometimes I find fashion confusing. Take the Spring/Summer 2012 trend for peplum-waist skirts, dresses, trousers and jackets, for instance. The flirty feminine look was seen just about everywhere, from Givenchy to Jason Wu (left), and is one of my favourite new-season trends. So why then is it almost impossible to find this look in stores?

I know it's still only January and the end-of-season-sale stock is still hanging about, drooping off rails depressingly in the corner of shops, but I want a peplum! After a series of frantic online searches I only found a handful of peplum-waist designs, and I've whittled those down to just four keepers.

The Tibi stripe jacket and Ted Baker cream dress (which also comes in black) are my two favourites. But Topshop and DP also have two good offerings:

SHOP THE EDIT: 1. Ted Baker peplum dress, £99; 2. Tibi peplum jacket, £440 (US $495);

3. Topshop peplum skirt, £28; 4. Dorothy Perkins peplum dress, £45

I'm very tempted to invest in the Ted Baker dress, which can easily be disguised as a peplum skirt if worn with a jumper. And although the Dorothy Perkins pink design is a little too girly for my taste the pastel shade makes it perfect for rocking two S/S trends at once.

Victoria Beckham Gets A Fringe For Numéro Tokyo

It's amazing how fast a magazine cover featuring Victoria Beckham spreads across the internet. Writing about her Numéro Tokyo March 2012 cover now feels like old news, even though it only got its online release on Saturday. I'm not going to talk about how great the cover is or get excited about her leather Burberry trench because you'll have already heard it. Instead, how great is her hair? I'm loving Victoria with a fringe/bangs. Are you a fan?

Victoria doesn't strike me as the kind of person who's happy to permanently change their hairstyle for the purpose of a magazine shoot, so this must either be her own hair cleverly arranged to look like a fringe or a clip-in piece. And although we can only see half of VB's face I really like this look on her. I've done a quick Google search and it doesn't look like Victoria has ever had a proper fringe - just a few choppy side-swept looks from her 'Posh Bob' days.

Wouldn't it be great to see Victoria with a full fringe? It's been a while since she changed her hairstyle and bangs are having a bit of a revival right now, with Zooey Deschanel and Taylor Swift both rocking the look. Should VB go for the chop too? Let me know what you think...

Jennifer Lopez has never been shy about showing off her to-die-for body, so it comes as no surprise that she's all over the Salvatore Ferragamo Spring Summer 2012 collection. For the filming of an upcoming episode of American Idol Jen chose to wear a eye-catching blue animal print gown from the collection, flashing a lot of leg in the process. Do you like her look?

If you've been keeping a close eye on the spring collections you'll know that thigh-high-slit skirts are big news right now. They were especially popular on the Milan runways (those Italians are so saucy) and have quickly started popping up on every red carpet worth talking about. Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron both showed a bit of leg at the Golden Globes.

Michael Fassbender covers Interview magazine's February issue, so it's not like anyone really needs to be convinced to buy the issue. But if you still need a reason then check out Elizabeth Olsen's beautiful editorial. Shot by Glen Luchford and styled by Bill Mullen, the youngest Olsen sister is pictured looking sultry in black. And while we're on the subject of Elizabeth, was anyone else disappointed that she wasn't at the Golden Globes on Sunday night? Although she lost out on a nomination I expected to see her on the red carpet, and if I'm honest the Globes could have done with a some Olsen magic. Fingers crossed she's at the Oscars!

The V&A Announces Hollywood Costume Exhibition

If you live in the UK and were feeling a little down about the fact you'll miss out on the Prada/Schiaparelli Met exhibition then I have some good news for you. In October the V&A will be putting on its own show-stopping fashion exhibition, Hollywood Costume, which will be sponsored by Harry Winston.

Opening on October 20th and running until January 27th 2013, Hollywood Costume will place the most iconic film costumes together under one roof. We're talking Audrey Hepburn's black Givenchy dress from Breakfast at Tiffany's, the gingham dress Judy Garland wore in The Wizard of Oz and even Michelle Pfeiffer's Batman Returns catsuit.

The full list of the 100+ costumes that will be on display is being kept secret for now, but I hope Carrie Bradshaw's Vivienne Westwood wedding dress from the Sex and the City movie makes the cut. Big Hair is Back in Vogue, But Does That Make it Cool?

Remember when Cheryl Cole turned up to the first round of X Factor auditions in the US with a supersized hairstyle? It did not go down well and within a week she was ditched from the show. The bad hair day probably had nothing to do with Cheryl getting fired from the judging panel (although showbiz is fickle) but that didn't stop people drawing a link between the two.

Now US Vogue seems to be doing a bit of damage control (for big hair, not Cheryl) by enlisting the help of superstar hairstylist Guido, who gave Karlie Kloss and Isabeli Fontana massive 'dos for the February 2012 issue. This over-the-top hair makes Cheryl's X Factor style look positively flat. Are you a fan of their massive hair?

Personally I think this statement-style works well in the editorial, but I do wonder it's just another small step towards a big-hair comeback. Would you ever wear a similar style?

Clothes I Want to Wear: Nina Ricci Pre-Fall 2012

Although Rooney Mara failed to make a massive impressed at the Golden Globes, on Sunday night, I was still a fan of her Nina Ricci dress. I agree she could have made more of a statement, but Peter Copping is one of my favourite designers right now, and I'm loving just about everything he does at Nina Ricci. Take the Pre-Fall 2012 collection, for example: it's 25 looks of clothes I'm desperate to wear. You wouldn't say no to the pink coat, would you?

Rooney's Golden Globes dress was part of the Pre-Fall 2012 collection and I wouldn't be too surprised if we also saw the blush pink dress [above] make an appearance over awards season as well. It has red carpet written all over it.

Fashion Loves The Olympics: See The Olympia Hat

Whilst we're on the subject of Kate Middleton's fashion influence I've just stumbled across the perfect hat for her to wear to the London 2012 Opening Ceremony. Designed by Bundle MacLaren, who specialises in bespoke headpieces, the Olympia hat is made from five intertwined coloured rings covered with goose biot feathers. It's probably a little OTT for Kate's taste (it may be better suited to Princess Beatrice) but it would make such a great statement.

The Olympia hat can be yours for a reasonable £106, but if you're not all that excited about the Olympics (I must admit I'm not) then Bundle's "Love" headband or parrot headpiece may be more your thing. According to this week's Grazia the average British woman has spent £250 to look like Kate Middleton. Pretty much everything Kate's photographed in sells out in an instant (see her blue Issa dress and Burberry trench coat) and her influence has reportedly brought in a total of £1 billion to the British economy. Those are some pretty impressive stats if true. Well done Kate!

The only thing is I can't think of a single woman I know who is genuinely influenced by Kate's style. I think the Duchess of Cambridge dresses beautifully, but so far I have spent £0 trying to "Get The Kate Look". Are you influenced by Kate's style? Have you ever bought something she's worn? Michelle Williams and Zooey Deschanel: Girls in Wigs

Michelle Williams poses in Stella McCartney underwear for the February 2012 issue of GQ US. I really want to like this cover because I love Michelle, but I don't. I'm going to blame Lindsay Lohan, who is constantly posing as Marilyn Monroe in next to nothing. Or, in the case of Playboy magazine, literally nothing.

Lindsay has cheapened the Marilyn image. And now Michelle unfortunately looks cheap too. But even if the Lindsay thing wasn't an issue I'm still not sure I'd like this shoot as it's impossible to ignore the wig. I've done a little Google-research and I don't think this wig was used in My Week With Marilyn (but I haven't seen the film yet, so am not 100% sure). Is Michelle's wig bothering you too? And if so, then how did you feel about Zooey Deschanel's hair at the Golden Globes?

Over lunch with a friend yesterday I mentioned that Zooey's hair looked a little strange on the red carpet and learnt she was actually wearing a wig. Apparently she couldn't cut her hair because she wears it long for New Girl so she wore a wig to get her desired hairstyle. You have to admire her dedication even if you don't like the wig.

Rihanna's Emporio Armani Shoot with Mert & Marcus

As you all know Rihanna is the new face (and body) of Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans. And this morning the Armani team released these exclusive pictures from Rihanna's campaign shoot, taken by iconic fashion photographers Mert & Marcus. My favourite image features Rihanna "chilling" on a sofa whilst showing off the pocket detailing on her jeans. That has to be the most uncomfortable and unnatural looking pose I've seen in a while.

America's Next Top Model should definitely start challenging their contestants to see how long they can hold the "casually relaxing but, oh look, aren't my jeans cool?" pose. Maybe Rihanna could even make a guest appearance to teach her modelling tricks. I'd SO watch that!

Shoe Loving: Miu Miu's Crystal-Embellished Sandals

Other than George Clooney/Brad Pitt/Ryan Gosling/[insert chosen Hollywood hunk here] nothing makes women go crazy with lust quite like a pair of Miu Miu heels. You all know the story with the glitter booties of last season: waiting lists, sizes out of stock across London, mass panic. I don't see why it should be any different with these beauties, below.

The crystal-embellished suede sandals with glitter platform arrived on Net-A-Porter last Friday. Currently every size from an IT 35 through to an IT 42 is in stock. Although who knows how long that will last. Especially as we're now in the middle of awards season and if these shoes say anything it's, "Take me to the red carpet." Michelle Williams would look great in them!

Taylor Swift Covers US Vogue February 2012

Usually I find Taylor Swift fairly annoying. It's because of the fake shocked face she pulls out every time she wins an award. Luckily her shocked face does not make it onto her US Vogue cover. The February 2012 shoot - photographed by Testino - has totally won me over, if I'm honest. It's easily one of my favourite Vogue covers from the last year or two. Now I'm the one with the shocked face!

People are already comparing Taylor's US Vogue debut to Gwyneth Paltrow's October 2005 Vogue cover and I can see why. Beyond the fact they're both wearing hats (obvious comparison really...) Gwyneth and Taylor are quite similar. Perhaps Taylor is the Gwyneth Paltrow of the future? And, while we're on the subject of Taylor and Gwyneth, did you know Gwyneth was apparently the one who set up Taylor and Jake Gyllenhaal? Actress, mother, blogger, matchmaker... She does it all!

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Worst Dressed

Piper Perabo in Theyskens' Theory: How did this happen? How? I loved the Spring/Summer 2012 Theyskens' Theory collection so am really disappointed this dress didn't work well on the red carpet. It's mostly down to the fact Piper posed with her foot out in almost every shot. Are we supposed to be excited by the fact you're wearing Louboutins? What is that pose?

Sarah Michelle Gellar in Monique Lhuillier: This was the worst dress of the night. By a mile! And ironically it's not even that bad a dress when you see it on the runway - it's just a really, really awful choice for the red carpet. The dress is overwhelming SMG's tiny frame and the print just makes matters worse. Still, at least she's smiling...

Lea Michele in Marchesa: I usually think Lea looks great in Marchesa, but last night's red carpet choice just wasn't working for me. Although, in fairness, 60% of the problem was with the hair. I'm sure there will be some who do still like this look, but for me it was one of the night's biggest disappointments.

I also wasn't keen on Madonna's dress (great from the waist up, but terrible skirt), Natalie Portman's Marilyn-esque Lanvin number, or Jessica Alba in Gucci. Who do you think deserved the "worst dressed" title at last night's Golden Globe Awards?

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman in Versace

Before the Golden Globe Awards took place last night all the gossips were talking about a possible showdown between Madonna and Angelina Jolie. But the only showdown Angelina took part in was on the red carpet. She wore a gorgeous silk dress by Atelier Versace (I actually think it might be my favourite from the night) and Nicole Kidman also wore Versace - opting instead for a studded number from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

So who did you prefer in Versace? My vote goes to Angelina but that's not to say I don't like Nicole's red carpet look as well. Her figure-hugging silver gown looked beautiful but it wasn't enough to take on the power of the Jolie. Can anyone successfully go up against Angelina?

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Jessica Chastain in Givenchy Haute Couture

As you all know, Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci is one of my red carpet favourites, so I was super excited to see who would wear the label to the Golden Globes. Rooney Mara would have been the obvious guess - as she's recently taken a liking to Givenchy - but she went for Nina Ricci instead, last night. The lovely Jessica Chastain was there to give us our Givenchy Haute Couture dose though, wearing a gorgeous silk tulle pearl embroidered dress.

Jessica accessorised perfectly with pearl earrings and a matching bracelet. I'm still a little undecided on the hair though. What are your thoughts? Was this red carpet look a winner?

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Heidi Klum in Calvin Klein Collection

Remember Heidi Klum's dress at last year's Golden Globes? It was the Marc Jacobs halter, which saw her land on almost every worst dressed list. There is no danger of a repeat performance this year (I assume she deliberately played it safe) as she looked stunning in a custom Calvin Klein Collection silk crepe sheath dress and turquoise jewels.

I like this look because it reminds me both of Cameron Diaz at the 2007 Met Gala (such a great moment for jewellery and still one of Rachel Zoe's greatest styling moments) and Emma Stone at last year's Globes. Another triumph for CK and proof that if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Brad Pitt & Charlize Theron For W Magazine February 2012: Which Cover Do You Prefer?

Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron both cover W magazine's "Movie Issue" for February 2012. Brad, of course, is promoting his recent performances in The Tree Of Life and Moneyball (the latter could see him win the Oscar for best actor) and Charlize is resting her awards season hopes on her performance in Young Adult. I like both covers, but seeing how relaxed and cool Brad looks in his shoot I wish Charlize's editorial had followed a similar path. Don't get me wrong, she looks absolutely gorgeous in the Mario Sorrenti editorial, but we've seen the "vamp rolling around on the floor in underwear" thing before. Charlize looking slightly undone by the pool like Brad would have been amazing.

Oh well, maybe next time. Which is your favourite W cover?

The Critics' Choice Awards took place in LA last night - as I'm sure you all know - and it was all about the yellow dress. Spring/Summer 2012's hot colour was worn by three of the best dressed stars last night. Elle Fanning looked adorable in Rodarte's sunflower print gown, Diane Kruger boldly paired her yellow and grey Prada dress with hot pink accessories, and girl-of-the-moment Elizabeth Olsen stole the show in a long-sleeved Emilio Pucci number.

You all know that I'm a big fan of Elizabeth's style, and this was easily one of her top five red carpet looks to date. I'm so pleased that she didn't overwhelm the yellow dress with powerful accessories, sticking instead to beautiful nude heels and natural hair and makeup. She was easily my favourite on the red carpet last night. I can't wait to see what she wears to the Golden Globes on Sunday. Who thinks it will be The Row?

Ted Baker's Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Show

On Wednesday Ted Baker put on a catwalk show to introduce their Spring/Summer 2012 collection to staff. It's something they do every season, so that their teams on the shop floor are familiar with the clothes (great idea, no?) and this year they invited along a selection of digital press. I was expecting it to be a small, discreet affair, but when I got to the location it was like stepping into London Fashion Week five weeks early. Blankets had been provided to keep the front row warm, the location looked amazing and there was a confetti finale.

The collection was also pretty super, with floral dresses perfect for summer weddings, geek-chic tailored looks and red-carpet-worthy cocktail gowns. Here's a preview of what's to come.

Blake Lively Carries Mulberry's New Travel Bag

It's impossible not to have a crush on Blake Lively's style - for a while I tried to resist, but failed miserably. Earlier in the week she was snapped in New York, filming scenes for Gossip Girl, carrying the latest Mulberry handbag. The Mulberry Travel Bag was first seen in the S/S 2012 collection and doesn't hit stores until mid-February. Blake, being the totes-fab-amazeballs modern day style icon she is, obviously got her hands on the handbag early. Who's jealous?

Off subject for a moment, does anyone else think Blake is likely to leave Gossip Girl at any given moment? She's just scored the lead role in Steven Soderbergh’s latest project, The Side Effects, she has Anna Wintour on speed-dial, two US Vogue covers and a Chanel campaign on her CV, plus she had the balls to ditch Leonardo DiCaprio in favour of Ryan Reynolds.

Gossip Girl now needs Blake Lively to survive more than Blake Lively needs Gossip Girl.

But back to the Mulberry Travel Bag. Blake carried the Day Travel Bag, but it also comes in an oversized style and a smaller size, named the Travel Camera Bag. It has a hint of the Alexa about it, but I actually prefer the Travel style to the Alexa. Does anyone else agree?

Nina Dobrev's Elie Saab Dress, From People's Choice Awards Red Carpet to Airport Terminal

Until this morning I didn't know who Nina Dobrev, star of The Vampire Diaries, was. But that's the beauty of the red carpet: an up-and-coming star can suddenly become five steps closer to hitting the A-list if they choose the right dress. And Nina definitely chose the right dress for the People's Choice Awards, last night. The green Elie Saab Spring/Summer 2012 dress looked great against her glossy dark hair and the sleeve detail stood out brilliantly on the red carpet.

The Elie Saab number also caused a stir at LAX airport, where Nina had to rush off to straight after the awards. Wearing a red carpet dress through the airport whilst carrying a People's Choice Award? I think somebody has finally upstaged Victoria Beckham in the OTT-airport-fashion-wars! I like Nina's style already - I'll be keeping an eye on her...

To start the year I've banned myself from shopping. So far it's been a bit of a struggle, but I'm still allowed to look, and I've mostly been searching for the perfect pair of plaid trousers. Suddenly plaid pants seem like the most appealing thing in the world to me. I need some!
