Minimalism may have had its moment - championed, of course, by the wonderful Phoebe Philo at Celine - but print is most definitely back in favour, with London Fashion Week showing a variety of eye-catching options. The Autumn/Winter 2012 collections were filled with opulent embellishments, rich embroideries, silk brocades and folksy patterns. Temperley London, Osman and Clements Ribeiro were three of my favourites. And here's why...
The Temperley London Fall 2012 collection was one of my LFW highlights - I loved the interesting mix of gold fabrics and floral embroidery. As always Alice's designs were ultra-luxurious, but in a non-threatening way. These are dresses you can imagine wearing and being totally comfortable in. So much so that Alice slipped into one herself, once the show was over.
Alice wore the show's third exit, exactly as it appeared on the runway, for the after party.
This season I attended my first ever Osman show, which I was completely blown away by. The dip-hem brocade skirts were a clear highlight, and I loved the rich colour palette and boxy shapes. I hope this collection gets a lot of editorial attention come September! It would also be great to see Osman's personal favourite, Cate Blanchett, wearing the A/W collection.
I'm a massive fan of Clements Ribeiro's bohemian prints and really enjoyed the elegant silk dresses and pencil skirts that came down the Autumn/Winter 2012 runway. Personally I didn't see the need for the chunky waist-belts, but loved the sophisticated addition of elbow-length leather gloves. The classic Jimmy Choo heels were gorgeous too.
Are you also a fan of these three collections? Which is your favourite?
