Best Dressed: Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen
The Best Supporting Actress nominee may not have won the Oscar, but she was definitely the best dressed of the night. The strapless black McQueen dress with gold embellishment made a dramatic statement on the red carpet, and I love that she didn't weigh it down with heavy hair and makeup or too many accessories. Over awards season Jessica has grown into a red carpet pro! I hope we continue to see her regularly on the red carpet...
Runners up: Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford and Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli
The biggest surprise of the night was Gwyneth Paltrow wearing Tom Ford. The elegant white dress with matching cape was the perfect choice for Gwyneth. The sophisticated design was pure Hollywood, but not so over-the-top that it stole anyone's thunder. It almost beat Jessica to the top of the best dressed list!
Then, of course, we have Emma Stone wearing Giambattista Valli. I love Emma and I love Valli, so of course this glamorous pink look landed in my top three. I just wish we'd seen more of Emma Stone throughout Awards Season 2012, as she constantly looks spectacular.
Who was your best dressed at the 2012 Academy Awards? And who do you think got it wrong?

How freaky I went for the two of your three. I put Gwyneth in top spot, I am a sucker for a cape; followed by Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton; and then Jessica Chastain it was hard as I did love the embellishment on that McQueen gown.
ReplyDeleteI'm still not loving Michelle's look, even though I do think she saved her best look until the Oscars. I just feel like her style has lost any edge, and it can only be described as "pretty" or "nice". I loved your flashback post to her red carpet style. That yellow dress was a dream!
DeleteThe best dressed of the night had to be Gwyneth Paltrow hands down. She looked so elegant and sophisticated. I looove the cape. I think Emma Stone looked cute but I think she could have done better.
ReplyDeleteMy fave has to be Gwyneth, she looked stunning, makes such a change from what we normally see her in! XX
ReplyDeleteRed carpet was too boring this year. Gwyneth's cape actually makes me think she's trying to hide smth, Emma Stone is boring as always in her standard reds, and Miss Chastain reminds kinda old Grandma's carpet...
ReplyDeleteI think Milla Jovovich looked stunning in her white one shoulder gown by Ellie Saab and I also loved Leslie Mann's midnight blue Roberto Cavalli.
Jessica's dress is like marmite! you either love it or hate it and sorry, I'm the latter. Although I mostly do love McQ.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you on Michelle Williams' dress/recent looks. As for Gwyneth, she stole the show for me in Tom Ford. I'm still swooning over it!
ReplyDeleteEmma stone looked far better last year, this year her dress and hair is a deadringer for Nicole Kidman at the oscars in 2007, find it hard to believe no one made her aware of this!
ReplyDeleteGwyneth was my best dressed, I loved her simple look. I was also wowed by Glenn Close in Zac Posen - she's got an amazing body!
ReplyDeleteGwyneth was my best dressed! Stunning!
ReplyDeleteBig hugs!

Same pic... But I go first with Gwyneth and the Jessica followed by Emma. Gwyneth added the perfect touch of drama without been overtly theatrical.
ReplyDeleteMy top three were the same as yours! I thought Jessica looked amazing. Gwyneth's dress was fresh and had a great potential, but I felt something was missing. I would have loved to see Diane or Zoe in the Giambattista Valli gown, but Emma looked really pretty.
ReplyDeleteOh i love the Jessica dress and the Emma dress, my favorites :)
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS !
