The morning got off to a great start, as my first show of the day was Mulberry. A customised ice cream van was parked outside Claridge's, offering treats to waiting guests, and the entrance to the hotel was covered in colourful plastic ice creams. Mulberry know how to put on a great event - so great that they have to stage their runway show twice in one morning, just to meet demand. Luckily I had an invite to the 10am show, which was attended by both Kate Moss and Kristen Stewart.
It was a little too early (and cold) for ice cream, but still a great idea
Oh, hello Kristen Stewart...
Hello Kate Moss....
On the front row Kate wore jeans and a denim shirt from the SS12 Pre collection, whilst Kristen Stewart chose the Neely dress and braided Mulberry boots. They both looked absolutely gorgeous and Kristen didn't seem miserable at all (a lot of you asked on Twitter). In fact, I like her a lot more now that I've seen her in person. As she was escorted out of the venue she looked quite shy and stood nervously twiddling her hair while she waited in line behind Kate Moss.
But enough of the celeb spotting; there were clothes to look at too. The British seaside is continuing to inspire designers this season, with Mulberry showing a palette of sugary ice cream shades and arcade brights. That "quirky English habit of enduring the beach no matter the weather, raincoats and all" formed the basis of the collection. And the raincoats were pretty fabulous. I'm not usually a fan of the humble anorak, but the cropped yellow style was one of the standout pieces.
Of course, there were handbags too. The classic Bayswater bag had a beachside makeover, appearing in a bright patent yellow leather, and the Taylor came in a tasty marshmallow white. Maybe we'll see a Kristen bag soon...
Do you like the look of the Mulberry Spring/Summer collection?

I love the raincoats, they remind me of Gene Kelly in Singing in the Rain.
ReplyDeleteKristen looked beautiful, idk why people think she is so miserable all the time.

ReplyDeleteAnd I adore Kate Moss so it's always lovely to see pics of her.
