Scarlett Johansson's Changing Faces

I didn't find myself overly excited about W's cover with Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks this month (although Julia's cheekbones are always mesmerising) but when I had a flick through the issues contents on The Fashion Spot I was blown away. Mostly by Tim Walker's photos of Scarlett Johansson.
Most magazines shoot celebrities in the latest trends against a white wall. This is fine, but not too inspiring. W never do that, which is why I love them so much. For her W editorial Scarlett posed in many different costumes until the point where she is barely recognisable. Clearly Tim Walker + Hollywood movie star = quality shoot.

And I'm sure most of you have by now heard the really sad news that super-stylist Alex White is leaving W. She is one of my favourite stylists ever and is pretty much the main reason I love W magazine. Edward Enninful is set to take over her role, and hopefully we'll get to hear of White's next move soon.

You can see all of Scarlett's W editorial over at wmagazine.com.

Do you think the combination of Scarlett and Tim Walker works well?

  5. This is such a stunning editorial, largely because she's so unrecognisable in the best possible way. I've never read W, but I really should start!

  9. I didn't recognise her!!!
The first photo is amazing, very 30's, not sure about the others... I guess it shows her versatility, after all those pinkish perfume ads, and other ads she's been doing.
