Although everyone finds Gossip Girl completely ridiculous (the storylines just go around in circles, don't they?) we all continue to watch it. When the books first came out I was in my early, teens and fell in love with the story straight away. And Blair was always my favourite character. Leighton Meester is doing a great job playing Blair on screen, but 2011 is so far shaping up to be the year she breaks away from Gossip Girl. So why should we have a girl crush on Leighton this week?
- Leighton has been photographed for the Hollywood issue of Vanity Fair, which is a huge deal. Although she didn't make it into the actual Hollywood Portfolio she did get to pose with some adorable puppies. You can watch a video of her Vanity Fair shoot HERE.
- She makes brave red carpet choices. They may not always be spot on, but she's willing to risk it in order to pull together a really special look. This week alone she's worn Giambatista Valli, Proenza Schouler and Emanuel Ungaro. Impressive, no?
- Whilst co-star Blake Lively has scored the high-profile Chanel campaign and two Vogue covers, Leighton has been even busier. She's the face of Herbal Essences, appears in the S/S Missoni campaign and recently signed up as the face of Vera Wang fragrance.
- Plus she's great at delivering a catty line, and has hair so shiny it rivals Kate Middleton's!

I love Leighton Meester and she really sparkled in the dress at the Golden Globes. I totally despise Blair but Leighton plays her to perfection and yes she does have really shiny hair. Funny because every time I see her I think of another striking brunette who played second fiddle to a willowy blonde, Rachel Bilson. They kind of have the same petite frame.

Blair was always my favourite character, and its such a shame that they have evolved the sernea character with cooler, and sexier clothes, and they seem to be making blair dowdy in comparison. Leighton Meester is a very cool chick, and can't wait to see how she eveolves as an actress and on the style front.

I love love LOVE her! Not really a Blake Lively fan. Have never read the Gossip Girl books, although I was in my teen years when they came out. Mid-late teens I think. But I adore the show. She makes it happen for me. Blair+Chuck, together or separate. And I am so happy that she's beginning to break away from GG and has landed so many opportunities these last few months :)
