At the end of 2009 one of the things I was most looking forward to about the new year was Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland (I've never watched a film in 3D before, I think this should be my first), which is finally out in March. Alice in Wonderland was one of my first ever video tapes as a child, and Lewis Carroll's story still fascinates me.
And one of my all time favourite editorials is US Vogue's Alice in Wonderland. Staring Natalia Vodianova, photographed by Annie Leibovitz and I'm guessing - I can't find any styling credits online to confirm this - styled by Grace Coddington, it is simply stunning.
It's a shoot I'm sure you've all seen a billion times before (can you believe it's from December 2003? It doesn't feel that old), but it's so gorgeous it can't hurt to view it again, can it?

I've cut three images out because I felt this post was going on a bit, but you can view the shoot in full, with the fashion credits HERE. And you can watch the Alice in Wonderland trailer HERE.
Is anyone else as insanely excited as I am about this film?

I'm about to sound really sad... but i am more excited about this than i ever have been about anything! It's all i have talked about for soo long, as soon as i heard it was being made however many years ago i KNEW it was going to be my favourite film of all time and that theres no chance at all I'll be disappointed, i mean its Tim Burton doing Alice in Wonderland, my favourite director and favourite film as a child and favorite book. Johnny Depp as the mad hatter is just the icing on the cake! Its all i can talk about and am actually getting quite giddy writing about it!
I'll have to stop blabbering on or I will never stop, but you get the idea!
Love the blog :)
xxxx
I love how Alice is wearing a dress designed by each designer featured in the picture with her. So like the one with Karl Largafeld in she is wearing one of his dresses. I think that is such a cool idea. I always look at these pictures with every new photography project I start and I wish I had the access to all of those dresses!
So excited! Tim Burton always gives me a thrill and with this story and such a stellar cast I think it's going to be pretty spectacular--- It's funny as I was just about to do my own post on my new Alice in Wonderland Set and the Barry Moser prints... I think it's probably going to be a pretty popular theme this month- Oh that Vogue shoot was amazing!
I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait!! This editorial is nice eye candy while we're waiting, though. My favourite shot is the one of Natalia inside the tiny house - her expression is just perfect.
I can't wait for this movie to come out. I have always loved the Disney video of Alice in Wonderland- like you said, it was one of the first videos I owned when I was young.
I went to see Avatar last week and they showed a 3d trailer for Alice and based on that I'm pretty sure it will be amazing.
i like. can't wait for it. the trailer is amazing
I can't wait for this movie! I actually blogged a little about it myself the other day. This is such a great editorial. I love the second photo. That's too cute!

Confession time - I've never seen this shoot! My life was actually incomplete until now - it is amazing.
I'm so excited about this movie!
I used to have dreams that I would go into wonderland. I was probably about six and every night I would look forward to going to sleep because I would go into my "dream world." :)
Love these shots !

I. can't. wait!
I'm having an Alice in Wonderland themed birthday night for my twentieth which lands on march 9th so perfect timing to also get to the cinema and watch the film. Only trouble is I stupidly get massively 'travel' sick watching 3D, but there'll be no better way to see it

HELL YES!! Sooo excited! I am a massive Alice fan and I have been posting all things Alice related on my blog in anticipation...I was going to post the exact same shoot in fact x
seriously can't believe it's from 2003! this is one of my all time favorite editorials.
I can't wait for this film to come out (mainly because of Johnny Depp...my boyfriend in my head...ah a girl can dream).
This vogue shoot is still fab (just goes to show how a good editorial will never date)...I love the shots with Viktor & Rolf and John Galliano in particular.

these pictures are so innovative and inspiring! especially those colors. thanks for sharing!
The editorial is beyond amazing. Everyone fits their character perfectly!
It is too beautiful to tire of this editorial! Love Natalia, she suits Alice perfectly and the dresses are to die for and look extra amazing on her. It is all just too beautiful............I love her in the one with Karl and the dress with Donatello Versace. Oh to just even try on........just for fun !
2010 is shaping up to be a good year for movies. I will not watch Alice on 3d though. I don't enjoy movies on 3D.
