Handbag Politics

"If you go into a high-street shop and pay £5 for a handbag, you've got to wonder where it came from."
- Emma Hill, creative director of Mulberry tells The Times Magazine.

Luckily (or unluckily - however you see it) I was born with expensive taste. I've never wanted a cheap handbag in my life. At the moment I'm dreaming about Mulberry's hot pink Bayswater, at the luxury price of £995.
The fact it's sold out makes me feel better about not being able to afford it anyway. I'd rather admire labels from afar then walk into Primark.

What's your dream luxury handbag?

I've found that 'it-bags' have become less and less desirable recently, until this fellow came along...I've been besotted for months! The colour, the ponyskin, the compatability factor with a leopard coat...

oh I've got a few! the bayswater in tan and black, plus of course the 2.55...
love the hot pink on this one!

2.55, for sure, i'm not very original!!
but i could kill for a birkin too.

and i disagree with you: i love primark, topshop and co., for me it's like affordable heaven!!

After about a year of lusting I broke down and bought a black Bayswate. I have to say it was well worth it, no regrets.

I like that quote. I've never been a fan of really cheap bags but am happy enough with Topshop and Zara! I do own one Mulberry bag and I guess my ultimate bag would be a Chanel 2.55

I love (expensive) bags as well. I have for ever and ever wanted the basic version of that bag. To this point small blue Louis Vuitton Speedy is all I have (ebay <3). But there will be more.

That's a good quote. I keep having to tell people things like that. It's frustrating that people want to pay NOTHING for goods yet at the same time it better be made under the most perfect working conditions ever, in a land of rainbows and unicorns, with health insurance for all. Oh, the CONSUMER is never responsible for sweatshops!

I think currently I am in love with the Wang Coco bag. But really, any of the Bottega Venneta bags would suit my style :)

One of my friends has a Mulberry Bayswater, and somehow I felt it looks a lot better in photos than in reality.
