Giles Deacon for New Look - Number 9

While I like the ideas behind designer/highstreet collaborations I've always found the reality rather disappointing. Either the quality or level of design sucks slightly or the prices are not actually 'highstreet' level.
The pairing that has always puzzled me the most is Giles Deacon for New Look. I'm a massive massive Giles fan and have always wondered why he grouped with New Look - which is more party party than kooky kooky.
His Gold collections (this will be his 9th for New Look) are always good - but I still wish there was more of the playful personality found in his ready-to-wear collections.
His newest collection (available next Monday both in store and online) for New Look features lots of strong shoulders, sequins and bead work. My favourites are the striped asymmetric dress with the puff sleeve and the leopard print tulip skirt.

What do you think of Giles' latest collection? Any pieces you'll be rushing out to buy?

I'm afraid I never really like the Giles collections, they are a bit too New Look for me!
I think that is an absolutley correct point about the quality vs price. The Topshop designer collections are usually great but the prices way more than usual highstreet. I don't think they should be super cheap New Look prices, but designer diffusions at normal Topshop prices would be great!

I like the sequin dress, but not so sure about the lack of color or imagination in these. Boo!

I love the white dress, but then again I like things a little more simple.

It promises so much but it is always so cheap in the hands, on the rail.

Not sure about any of these pieces, but I'd at least try on that puff-sleeved top to see what it looked like on me.

elegant dresses and prints skirt. It's ultra feminine and glamour but yeah too expensive i guess. I prefer good quality/qood price. It's too couture!

For some reason I never really paid attention to Giles until this season, but I love it all

Not doing it for me I'm afraid. The sleeves really put me off although the last black dress is not quite so bad. And I guess its tricky to photograph sequins sometimes
