The A/W 09 Kate Moss for Topshop collection launched this morning (I'm sure you knew that anyway). The collection has been described by Kate as 'grunge', she says: "This season’s grunge is all about being creative about how you put your look together, and not necessarily spending a fortune."
It also looks like her version of grunge is inspired by the costumes from Almost Famous. I can imagine Kate Hudson, as Penny Lane, wearing practically every piece in the collection. Those of you who love the movie as much as me will know what I mean when you look through the collection. One of my favourite pieces, the faux fur coat, is even titled 'Groupie'. Every time I watch Almost Famous I want to dress like a groupie from the 70's. Now I can.
If you haven't seen Almost Famous (I'm sure most of you have seeing as the fashion is amazing) you should rent it today. I adore Kate Hudson, but never really take her that seriously as an actress, yet she was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Almost Famous. I wish she'd go back to real films and stop with the You, Me and Dupree types.

I remember Almost Famous was one of the 'grown-up girl' films that my friends mum would let us watch at sleepovers. I adored Penny Lane, but it was my friend who always got to play her in 'Groupies in the playground' so I was Sapphire instead.
My favourite outfit was the little lace crop top and shorts she wears while she dances a ballet solo among the post-gig confetti and beer cans.
oh i love penny lane...literally one of my favorite movie characters! that faux fur coat will def be one of my winter staples!

I love Almost Famous the power of three. Such a great movie. And I, too, dream of dressing like Penny Lane - not just the huge shaggy coats, but the little lacy 70s folk blouses. Penny could pull off sheer and braless like no other.
i like her collection. Not boring and quite wearable. love the scarf and the fur.
i think it's look more vintage, i like it, and i can say i love some of the pieces
I love it and have bought it this morning. I haven't seen it in the flesh yet but im hoping its as nice as I want it to be.

I'm not impressed by the Moss collection - I love the idea but hate the execution. Much better to pull such a look together from other places.

This is definitely stuff you can find in a vintage shop. But I suppose that's her look! Moss is a pretty lady, and she's smart for cashing in on collaborations like this.

I think that sort of coats & vests/waistcoats are nothing new(so please Moss more imagination here!haha), not only because they are so 70's but I remember seeing them since 3 or 4 yrs ago in stores and I remember seeing Trinny Woodall with one green fury waistcoats in "What not to wear" by the way those women should go back to the tv. I loved her show :)

oh! i ADORE almost famous! that film has influenced me in so many ways in past years and i still dream of becoming penny lane some day.. ;) i'm not sure if i like the collection or not but the fur coat is really cute..oh, i wish i didn't have fashion budget that's less than 50e/month..

with things like the Kate Moss collection, even if I really like a piece, I usually will resist buying it because I just think everyone else will probably have it too. I'd rather go out and find a unique vintage piece that no-one else has (and probably cheaper too). It's pretty obvious most of the designs are ripped off of vintage pieces anyway (not necessarily a bad thing). I guess its kinda snobby of me, but I just really hate that feeling of wearing something knowing that loads of other people have it too!
