Since it launched in 2003 I think Teen Vogue has easily become the best teenage magazine on the market. Sure teenagers can't afford anything featured in it but their editorials and features are far more grown up and inspirational than anything I've ever seen in Sugar etc.
And now the people at Teen Vogue have created a book on careers in fashion, The Teen Vogue Handbook: An Insider’s Guide to Careers in Fashion.

Teen Vogue editor Amy Astley says, '“The book is a useful reference guide: how to build a portfolio, dress for an interview, and land an internship.”
The book is said to include:
· A Q&A with the king of cool, Marc Jacobs
· Words of wisdom from Karl Lagerfeld and Anna Wintour
· Profiles of contributing photographers
· A list of essential beauty products from industry pros
· Advice from stylists and model scouts
· Practical advice from models, assistants and interns
Who else is dying to hear what the 'practical advice' from models is?
But really I think Anna Wintour's advice is all you need. "Do your homework, go online, visit every museum, and intern. You just need to have a love for what you’re doing. It’s not about thinking that it’s the cool thing; it’s about really believing in it," she says.
Karl follows up, “Ask yourself, Are you sure this world is for you? And are you sure you are the right person to survive in this world—the world of fashion, a world with no rules, no laws?”
I LOVE KARL
The Handbook comes out on October 5th, is $24 and apparently is for 'ages 12 & up' - sorry 11 year-olds.

i certainly will purchase this book.
thanks for posting about it (:
Teen Vogue has got to be one of my favourite teenage magazines - their editorials are just so lovely and inspirational!
I'm definitely going to try to buy this when it comes out because it looks like it'll be very interesting. :)
i wrote about this a few days back, it's a pretty great idea for them to bring out this handbook! cracking into the fashion industry doesn't seem to be the forte of to many school career advisors, i'm sure it'll be beneficial to a lot of young girls.
love the blog, keep up the good stuff!
Yay! This would be a great 24th birthday present for my sister - she's the fashion editor for mykindaplace.com (which is for 15 year olds..) but wants to move on up in the old fashion food chain - thanks for posting! Xxx

I'm really looking forward to reading this. I wonder if there will be any new advice or just the usual? All the same the quotes should be amazing.
Must buy that! I just don't know how I'm going to get it since they probably won't sell it in Finland.. Well, amazon.com or ebay will help!

Defintely getting this book
I love Teen Vogue, they mentioned this book in an earlier issue months ago.
I can hear Karl saying that, too. Hilarious!
I am not a teenager anymore, and I still love teen vogue. They're fashion editorials are probably my absolute favorite. This book looks awesome. I may have to buy it when it comes out.
Ooo I'm totally gonna purchase! Thanks for posting!

Great commercial move and what fun. I suspect this book is a must for lots of people. I wonder why they didn't ask me for advice! (kidding)
THAT IS A BRILLIANT IDEA!! Will sell like hot cakes, but I diagree with you on TV. NYLON is the only one for me, and TV is often such a load of bull, the editorials are rather samey, but, it does have it's place on the market. It's just the amount of Disney in it that pisses me off!!
I'm 25 and I still read Teen Vogue! I love its freshness, its editorials and pictures. The original Vogue could learn a few things from them.
And what is up with Anna's "visit every museum" comment. What has that got to do with fashion? I'm sure the biggest heads in the industry have no idea what's what in the museums.
