Kepping in with the New York theme this week I thought it was right to crown the Queen B of NYC this months fashion icon.
Never before have a crowned a fictional person as the months fashion icon. But there is something very special about Blair (played by Leighton Meester) in Gossip Girl. Ever since Carrie Bradshaw walked off our TV sets, Manolos clicking and finally with Mr Big, there has been a big TV fashion icon gap. Blake Lively's Serena may be the commercial success of the show, what with all the teen magazine covers and hair envy, but Leighton has brought Blair to life; along with a great styling team.
I don't watch Gossip Girl for the humour (it isn't funny) or the relationships (Dan and Serena = the most boring fake couple on earth - guess their chemistry is off screen) or for the storyline (the books were a million times better!) I watch for one reason only: Blair.
I hope you agree that she deserves Septembers title.
Be a little bit Blair. Bitching will come after the look...

I disagree with you totally, I think Gossip Girl is hilarious in a dark and campy way. The story lines are pretty good as well as the twists and turns, you never know what to expect next. I was not too impressed with the books and thought the characters in them were very weak and just not interesting enough to keep me engaged. Book Serena is a very pale version of TV Serena and the plot is so shallow. In the book Serena is tall and gorgeous while Blair is short and plain. How transparent is that? At least the producers from the show evened it up by making both characters beautiful.

i've been waiting a long time for you to choose her as the fashion icon of the month! hahaha. since the series started i've been following her look very closely, she matches clothes perfectly (thinking of blair, not the real life, where the stylist of the show does everything). anyway, i love it.
also, since the series started i want to read the books!
the only thing i disagree with you, is that i love the series, but it's just a matter of tastes (maybe if i read the books before, i would not have liked them, but i didn't, so i have nothing to compare the show with, hahaha).

she is far too matchy-matchy and overdone looking in my opinion. Sometimes I like what she is wearing, but it's far too feminine for me, I guess I'm just more grungey... Like that you chose someone from NYC, though!

I do like gossip girl as a show, but blair is definitely my favorite part! her style is pretty much the opposite of mine but i still find it amazing.
I think that the show is better than the books, though the books are ment for teen girls and I am past that so who am i to judge. But Blair is the one I'd rather copy. Serena is... dum, and predictable (and we're talking only clothes here).

so agreed, Blair is superior to Serena times a BILLION in the fashion department and is definitely a style icon for me. I so look forward to her outfits more than anything else in the show. Great compilation of photos by the way :)

I agree about Blair... what I like about her style best is how she layers, and how unlike most tv shows which just go for slutty, she actually has a pretty conservative look which is still interesting. Considering how many really young girls love the show, I think that's great

Love both their styles, really. Blair is preppy but great to draw inspiration from. My style contemplates more towards Serenas, as I am a hippie at heart.

I've never watched gossip girl, I really should! It looks like quite funny and the clothes are good. The over girlyness put me off at first but I think i'm ready to bite the sugary bullet

I think the character of Blair Waldorf represents very well the image we have of the typical Upper East Side teenager. The stylist's work must be praised, and that comes in the form of audience.
Overall the show is pretty predictable.
she's so well dressed,so many style icons these days are dressed in a more thrown-together erin wasson-esque look. (i haveno idea how else to explain it) but blairs well puttogether look is just as inspiring!

I usually hate overworked/preened-ness but there's a comedy about Blair's looks that is just spot on...
YES i love Blair so much! I watch each episode twice: once for the plot and dialogue, and again for her outfits.
I do agree with the pick. I have a soft spot for snarky, evil girls though, they're usually so much more clever than their sweeter counterparts.

I totally agree! I absolutely love Blair and her on-screen fashions; the show's stylist is absolutely genius. Her looks are always put together and well-done. Great choice.

J'adore Miss Waldorf. She has such attitude and edgyness, despite being the upper east side princess she is. I love how the attitude contradicts her prim and proper attire, and her headbands are adorable and chic. Love it, and love your work as well!
