Everyone Is Doing The Rachel

First there was the haircut Jennifer made famous back in the days of Friends and now there is a new Rachel everyone wants to copy. This time it is Rachel Bilson. Back in the days of the O.C it was Mischa that caught the attention of the fashion magazines. Her long legs and blonde hair made her the 'perfect star'. But while her star was fading Rachel was shopping, and now has one of the most lusted after celebrity wardrobes.
Today alone I have noticed two other celebrities wearing looks very similar to Rachel. First Kate Hudson was spotted at the beach in the same skirt Rachel look fabulous in last week.

Then One Tree Hill (I only learnt how fab this show is recently - love it!) actress Sophia Bush was snapped in a very Rachel look too. Proving just how fabulous Rachel is!

I loved the grey tank dress look when Rachel first wore it and I'm loving it still on Sophia. While looking through the Net-A-Porter summer sale I noticed they have a lot of grey t-shirt dresses. Might be time to pick one up...

Back To School? Not Looking Like This!

The adverts are already on TV for school uniforms and pencil cases; and I feel truly sorry for those of you heading back to a life of itchy uniform and science lessons in September.
I noticed some new pictures from the Gossip Girl set. No one ever dresses like this for school. Ever.
I had to endure years of a maroon jumper. Why it is fictional people always get the better clothes? Examples: Carrie Bradshaw, Holly Golightly, Blair Waldorf, Andrea Sachs....

  4. god, i totally agree. i'm from nyc, i go to private school there, and while i'm still in middle school i do know that the girls at nightingale-bamford, the school that gossip girl is based on, dress NOTHING like this at school. a lot of them are very stylish out of school, but uniform is never as un-rigid as this. gg also makes it seems like everyone in new york is amazingly dressed.... if only, if only.

  5. Our dress code back in the day was men's polo's or peter pan blouses and shorts that could double as swim trunks (and not absorb a drop of water thanks to polyester). I sure WISH I could have looked like this.

  6. If I could live in the GG wardrobe closet I think I would be happy for eternity.

  7. You're so right, no one gets to be that well-dressed for school! I can't wait to see season 2 of Gossip Girl!

  8. I only suffered in a uniform one year, unfortunately it was senior year and it was a sailor uniform. But so true, no one dresses like that. Wish we could. Sigh.
It's funny to see stars inspiring each other...especially when they're not just friends rubbing off on each other. The leggy blondes (Blake Lively anyone?) always get more media buzz...why?

  9. I wish I went to a school were cute headbands and ruffled shirts were the uniform!!

  10. omg i totally agree with you, my school uniform was shocking. well, actually it wasnt that bad, navy pencil skirt (we all had the one made of that horrible strechy, clingy material that hugged to you), a white polo shirt (extremely see through) and a navy jumper. we looked quite scruffy. i would have loved to have a shirt and blazer!! or infact to look like any of the characters in gossip girl.

although, i must say, the other week 2 girls came into the shop i work in, in school uniform. they had designer bags, back combed rah-esque blonde hair, very nice shirts and shoes, perfct makeup and subtle jewelery. they looked seriously good in their school uniform and they were only about 16! i was quite ashamed by how jealous i was. they were as near to gossip girl as i have seen a school uniform actually look.

  14. So, so true about fictional characters getting to wear fabulous clothing that we would ruin, twist an ankle in (thinking Carrie), or not be able to sit comfortably in.
    Love the Rachel outfits too!

  18. How can Leighton Meester/Blair always look so remarkably flawless?

  19. Don't...you'll get me started again on how much I loved the books and don't like the tv series...however great clothes and yep we need to be fictional characters too.

  20. I´ve always thought Mischa was a little bit overrated. Best pic of the day: Blair - she´s the real heiress of Carrie B.

  21. My sister and I were just talking about Rachel today and saying how much we love her style - she gets it right about 98% of the time if you ask me.

My high school uniforms still haunt me... a frog green sack in summer and a long, itchy, forest green carpet tunic in winter, accompanied by a white blouse with toilet seat collar and a red piece of polyester attached to elastic which was supposed to be a tie. Not to mention the fawn ribbed tights and brown school shoes. SEXY OR WHAT???!! :oP

  22. We had uniforms at school and the rules were strict - detention straight away for any infringements. We still found ways to try and look "cool". I'm glad we had uniforms - it cut out all the bother about what to wear.

  23. Why wouldn't you want to "do the Rachel"? Have you seen her? She's gorgeous!

I'm finally glad someone else likes One Tree Hill. When the OC craze was there, I was secretly watching One Tree Hill. I can't get enough of it that...and Greek.

  24. Yay for Rachel Bilson, glad she is finally getting some attention, she always looks adorable and her outfits are pretty much always lovely :) And just looking at Leighton makes me excited for season two!

  25. i can tell you that my school uniform that I wore for 15 years did not look anything like any of the girls on t.v. we were lucky to be able to express ourselves with a hairband that was outside of the regulatory navy, huntergreen, gold, dark brown or black!!! no Jewellery, studs in our ears only, no make up. it was a wonder we all survived. I think what it did do, was created a group of girls who were eager to be creative in other ways and really expressed ourselves in drama, art, school ecetera..... all in all a good thing. if i could i'd kill to dress like the gossip girls now, who wouldn't......

  28. I agree with you about school uniforms. I didn't have to wear one but NO ONE ever wore heeels or dressed up to go to school! Being in school is a great time to experiment with casual style. They'll have years ahead of them when they will need to look professional and polished.

  29. speaking of hair, i am debating long or short. i am almost wanting to cut my hair like Katie Holmes' super short cut but am lacking the courage to take the leap.

  34. I like the outfits in Gossip Girl more than the Sex and the City ones, if that is remotely possible for SATC fans to comprehend!

As for Rachel Bilson's clothing. I noticed that in LA pretty much everyone dresses the same, and shop the same stores, so its bound to happen that celebs dress alike.
