Those of you that read Coco's Tea Party a lot will know that I am in love with American Harper's Bazaar - again if you don't read it you should give it a try. Last night I was flicking through the Gwyneth Paltrow copy when I noticed a strange tattoo on model Anja Rubik. At first I thought it was a flying mouse, so instantly text Stevie from Discotheque to see what she knew about this madness.
I then realised it was more of a chubby rat, but it is still just as strange. Flicking through other images of her I can't see it anywhere else so they must airbrush it out normally or hide it behind concealer.
It is crazy the things people hide. You think you know a model and then you find out they have a rat on their wrist. I actually find myself strangely drawn to this tattoo. It is quirky and original. Here are two more pictures from the shoot 'News from Paris'.

ReplyDeleteI have always wanted a tattoo but am too indecisive. I really love pin up girl tattoos but I think on girls they can look quite butch if you are not stick thin!

ReplyDeleteI heart Bazaar as well, and the Gwyneth issue is fab, every page. Would never have noticed that tat if you hadn't pointed it out - that's a new one! (And they usually airbrush those out, right? Wonder why the eds. chose to keep it?).

Very cute and different, I never knew rats could look so cute! I looove tattoos. My hairdresser has a fly on her wrist which is actually kinda cute...I'll take a pic of my tatt as I don't think its visible on any of my pics

In a world where the tattoo has become such a mainstream form of "individualism" and "self expression", original ideas are vital. It's got to have some real meaning to keep with the ethos behind the art.

ReplyDeleteSo glad that you love Bazaar!! It's seriously underrated. It's more to the point than Vogue which gets clouded with a lot of nonesense. I was an intern at Bazaar though for many many months. Hoping to get a job there now..
