I have come to the conclusion that the Cannes Film Festival is much better than the Oscars and the Costume Institute Gala.
Not only does it last a lot longer than one evening, it seems that the red carpet is always host to better gowns. Plus you are always guaranteed Natalie Portman and Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt! The woman who has caught my attention this year is Eva Longoria Parker, she may not be a Cate Blanchett or Julianne Moore with a deep, celebrated, and sophisticated relationship with fashion. But the lady is pure glamour!
Eva is shamelessly sexy (but not in a trashy Pussy Cat Dolls way) think glitter, colour and Versace.
She looked so stunning on the red carpet in Atelier Versace Spring 2008 (which was one of my favourite Versace collections ever!) that I imagine women of all ages turned into 5 year old girls, amazed at a super stylish woman or Disney Princess. Remember that feeling of awe?

There have been some amazing dresses on show so far but two of my favourites have been Bar Rafaeli in lilac - she gets points for making lilac look appealing - and Julianne Moore in Christian Lacroix couture.

It is said that Bar Refaeli´s gown (Alberta Ferretti) costs around 1.000.000$!
I also prefer Cannes Red Carpet than the Oscars or the MET. This is more glamurous

I have to say I was well surprised when I saw Eva Longoria at Cannes. As super hot as I've always found her, I was never impressed by her clothing choices. But this French red carpet is been filled with glam by her!

That was a rather dazzling Versace collection - a lot more triumphant and sophisticated than recent collections. But then again, I have a weakness for Versace so anything thrown my way with a label reading that name on it is bound to get a good review from me, lol.
Bar always looks quite beautiful, I think. Not sure about the furry straps of Julianne Moore's dress, though...
